Yeah, try wrapping your mind around the title of this post. I’ll be talking about new MMORPGs that are old. Like what you say? Well games like Digimon Battle from WeMade Entertainment and Dark Eden from JoyMax. Both of these games are new in North America, but old in South Korea. I believe Digimon Battle was released in 2004 or so in Korea and Dark Eden was released in 2002. So why did WeMade Entertainment wait so long to release Digimon Battle in the U.S? I have no idea. The first game JoyMax launched in the U.S. Was Silkroad Online – a more modern fantasy MMORPG. You’d imagine their SECOND MMORPG would be a NEWER game, but nope.

WeMade Entertainment is sort of stuck in the past in my opinion. Their newest MMO, developed in 2009, is a game called Avalon Heroes which aims to compete with League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth. So it’s a DotA like game. Unfortunately, the game is terrible. And I mean TERRIBLE. It’s easily one of the worst MMOs I’ve ever played. I actually REALLY liked both Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends, so I was excited about Avalon Heroes. Boy, was I let down. I urge League of Legends or HoN fans to try Avalon Heroes for 1 reason – it’ll make them appreciate their own game more. WeMade Entertainment has only one really successful MMORPG – and thats Mir 2 and The Legend of Mir 3. Keep in mind though, both of these games are popular in Asia and are each 7+ years old. In the U.S. These games are not that popular.

On September 3, 2010 Suba Games released an MMOFPS called Mission Against Terror. Unfortunately, the game had been available WORLD WIDE through the Malaysian Publisher Cibmall since late 2008. So why wait so long before releasing the game in North America? Seriously. 1 year delay isn’t that bad compared to Digimon Battle and Dark Eden, but there are other offenders out there. Jade Dynasty has been available in China for a long time and only launched in North America recently. It’s published by the same company who developed it – Perfect World Entertainment.

Know any other old MMORPGs being re-launched as new MMORPGs in North America? List em in the comments!
