Lately I haven’t been able to commit myself to any single MMORPG, So I’ve been playing a handful of MMOs instead. The last MMORPG I really played hard core was Dungeons and Dragons Online from Turbine, and I really liked it. I’m looking forward to Turbine making Lord of the Rings Online fully free to play. Right now the game is available through a free trial, but MMORPG free trials are lame, because after the trial ends you have to pay to keep playing it. After I stop playing an MMORPG, it’s hard for me to jump into another one right away. So during this “Cool off” period, I usually play a lot of MMOs and hop between them often.
One MMO I’ve been playing quite a bit recently is League of Legends from Riot Games. As a fan of DotA and Heroes of Newerth, it shouldn’t be surprising that I find League of Legends to be fun. One reason I really like it is because it’s one of the only unique free to play MMOs out there. Sure MMOFPS games like Alliance of Valiant arms from ijji and Wolfteam from Aeria Games are fun, but these MMOFPS games are a dime a dozen. There are so many of them out there! And the funny thing is that almost all of them copied a really old MMOFPS called Sudden Attack, which is by the Korean company GameHi (which actually got bought by Nexon). I know that they all copied Sudden Attack because the interface outside of matches are usually very similar, if not identical. Anyway, enough MMOFPS talk. If you guys haven’t played LoL, you’re missing out. It’s amazing. It can be a bit difficult to learn, but nowhere near as difficult as a game like Eve Online.
One really cool new MMO i’ve been playing over the last few days is Need for Speed World from Electronic Arts. It’s their newest Need for Speed Game, and its an MMO! It actually plays like RayCity and Drift City, except with MUCH nicer graphics. In fact, I’ll venture and say that Need for Speed World is one of the highest quality free to play MMOs out there, at least in terms of graphics. The graphics (once maxed out) are absolutely jawdroppingly gorgeous! Racing MMOs can be fun, but there really aren’t that many out there. Fans of the need for speed franchise should definitely try Need for Speed World. It’s a lot of fun.
Another cool MMO that I’ve been playing lately is War of Legends from Jagex. Yeah, it’s a browser game. It actually plays a lot like Evony, but that shouldn’t be surprising as all browser based strategy MMOs are total clones of each other. Whether you’re playing Caesary, Kingory or Empire Craft, you’re actually playing the same game with slightly different graphics. The only reason I’ve been playing War of Legends is because I already have an account with RuneScape, so I don’t have to register another one, haha. It’s not a terrible game, but again, it’s just like every other empire building strategy game.
Well yeah. That’s what I’ve been up to the last few days! What have you guys been doing?
